Garrison Art Center Hosts CURRENT: A Sculpture Tour

Garrison, NY: Building on the successful premiere launch of their outdoor summer exhibition last year, Garrison Art Center will host their second “expanded” annual summer sculpture exhibition, CURRENT: A Sculpture Tour, on view June 1st through August 11th. The exhibition, which last year was set at four landmark Garrison sites, will include a fifth site and exhibit artwork from regional artists as well as artists of national and international notoriety selected by a jury of three distinguished art authorities.

County Blurs the Lines on Google Maps

Looking at White Plains on Google Maps, you might notice that the Westchester County Center, County Office Building and the Metro North train station, bus terminal and parking garages are obfuscated (blurry). Milt Gerver Orchestra on the Playland Boardwalk Friday Nights in July and August

Everybody get ready to rumba! – and jitterbug, lindy, and mambo – when the Milt Gerver Orchestra re-creates the sounds of the Big Band era on Friday evenings this summer, from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., on the boardwalk at Playland Park in Rye.

The orchestra will perform on Fridays, July 13, 20, 27 and August 3. August 10 is reserved as a rain date for any of the scheduled performances.

2nd Annual Ride of Silence to honor injured or killed cyclists, pedestrians and runners

A year ago, Westchester Cycle Club and local residents joined up together to participate in the first Ride of Silence held in Westchester County. The Ride of Silence is part of a grass roots effort to raise awareness of cyclist and pedestrian, "share the road" rights. It's silent and somber demeanor honors and remembers cyclists’ hurt or killed on public roadways. The ride has no official sponsor, registration, brochure, fee or t-shirt, and all are welcome to participate.
